Winter on the Bering Sea

Mid-day sun high in the sky. The sun doesn’t get very high over the horizon these days, casting sunset light over the mountains and the sweet town of Nome all 5 and a half hours that it slides across the southern sky. I love the golden light that shines all day.IMG_8288.JPG

Glazed rocks in ice from the sea waves!

Frozen beach ripples, tide terraces of ice.

Seaglass on the beach ice. There are still great seaglass finds!IMG_8675.JPG

I painted a little wood painting with these words from Hafiz, and this is the paint plate that was left over from the colors. I love the leftover paint plates, how the colors all swirled together…it’s a little bonus piece of art from the art that is made. πŸ™‚ One of my favorite parts of painting.IMG_8283.JPG

My “commute” to work, walking along the golden-lit Bering Sea beach in the shining sunlight. This is “high-noon”. πŸ™‚IMG_8461.JPG

Pretty turquoise Nome home in the sunset light. πŸ™‚IMG_8683.JPG

Wire icicle. πŸ™‚ a piece of wire stuck in the sand that has collected layers and layers of freezing seawater.
