Little Reflections

Going on to the electronic health record (EHR) at Norton Sound is at once fun, exciting, frustrating, confusing, maddening, sometimes even wanna-stab-your-eyes-out, awesome, interesting all at the same time. There are so many cool things we can do now that we have not been able to do well on paper… but then there are some things that really were easier on paper. Or at least by now, we have learned a system that feels fluid because well, we have learned it. I keep having to remember that this too we will learn and become fluent, or at least more fluid. And acceptance and a positive attitude and humor, lots of humor, help. And hopefully it will make patient care better. that is the point. I know I have greatly missed EHR since coming here. There’s just too much physical scatter. But still, it takes time. Here’s to being kind and patient and not letting the little things ruffle our feathers. Because really, it isn’t worth it! (Even though I still do it. :/ :)

The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed and redeemed and redeemed. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands – one for helping yourself and the other for helping others. Never throw anyone away.
